Your Alaska Link: Juneau music program eyes $500k award for youth empowerment

The Juneau Alaska Music Matters program is in the running for a national award and some serious cash.

The group is among 11 finalists for four $500,000 award for youth music programs across America.

According to the Lewis Prize for Music website, the Accelerator Awards received 261 applications from 42 different states and territories. The award recognizes programs that "merges positive youth development with artistic development in settings that center racial equity, youth voice, and collective action."
