Lewis Prize for Music awards $1.25 million to youth groups nationwide

“The Lewis Prize for Music, a philanthropic arts organization that in January awarded $1.75 million in grants aimed at fostering access to music education nationwide, has handed out $1.25 million, this time as a response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 32 grants announced this week — ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 — were made as part of its COVID-19 Community Response Fund, which the New York-based organization launched in April.

Dalouge Smith, the San Diego-based CEO of The Lewis Prize for Music, said the organization “is committed to supporting young people and the adults in their lives who give them love, safety and a musical voice.””
